Shoora Govi Peramuna (Best Farmers Front)
Goal
To recognize the best farmers by forming an exclusive front (club) and represent them as role models for young generation
Objectives
To provide due recognition of farmers who have shown exceptional entrepreneurial qualities
To help establish own farms into model farms thus disseminate skills and technology within the community and beyond
To involve in agricultural trials and research and use as centers for such activities
To transform the minds of public into a positive perception about the Sri Lankan farmer
Target Group
The front will consists of best farmers selected through annual farmer competitions nationally.
Methodology
The primary methods for achieving the goal and objectives of this project are:
Register the best farmers under the “best farmers’ front”
Provide technical assistance to turn farms into model farms
Organize and conduct demonstrations and training sessions for general public and schools
Provision of training and exposure to field trials and experiments
